The Ultraknuckle

Ultracruise?

That’s a valid question. I’m not exactly sure where that name originated, but from what I gather, this is the newest, like bleeding-edge level bikepacking “race” style. Someone draws up a course that connects all the goods in an area. You know as much singletrack and killer riding as you can find. And then you ride it all in one go, carrying what you need to camp along the way.

An Ultraknuckle? Well, that’s our take on this concept.

The ride:

I hope it is obvious that this is self-supported. You will need to carry what you need to stay on the road for the time it takes to finish the loop. There are plenty of places for resupply along the way, but also stretches where there is pretty much nothing. Do your research and be prepared.

As we were “finishing” last year, Harrison said that it wasn’t possible to do the entire, full-on route in the time allotted. So, this year, that’s what we are doing. You will have from 5:30 on Thursday till 5:30 on Sunday to ride the entirety of the route to win your high five. No audibles, no cutting course. We have to verify if this mythical challenge is even feasible.

Here’s to doing unnecessary shit!

2024 Dates

The Grand Depart (roll out from the Lounge) will be May 2 at 5:30 PM. You will have 72 hours to complete the route.

We will be breaking this up into two categories for 2024. Your traditional ITT and the best category, Enduro. The enduro category requires riders to camp at the designated spots on the map. Their time will not include camp time, but only the time it takes to ride between the camps.

Or just show up and ride your bike. That’s probably the best plan.
