Mother’s Day Goose Ride

KB and I got out on Mother’s Day for a nice jaunt around the Goose. I had invited Sir Pratt but he doesn’t ever check his phone, and we probably left a little early for him.

Both of us were pretty tired from the ride on Saturday but the weather was nice and we couldn’t help but get out before the wind reached gale force. We were under certain time constraints due to family events happening later so we rode the South Rim around to the North and then jumped on the road at the top of the Practice Loop to get back to the trailhead.

We had all three dogs in tow and were thankful when a rider who had passed us came back to inform us of a snake on the trail. He was concerned the dogs could get hurt. Fortunately this snake was about as docile as they come, plus not venomous and the dogs didn’t seem to even see him.

We had a little bit of time between our ride and meeting Mumma B in Springdale so we stopped at the Virgin Falls in hopes of enjoying the water with the dogs. With the current run off the falls weren’t really manageable. The dogs didn’t want to get in and the water was flowing so we didn’t encourage them.

I had a little problem with the Garmin. I had updated it the day before but when I got to the end of the South Rim the time had stopped and the screen was frozen in place. It wouldn’t stop, start, clear or power off. After making our way down the dirt road it turned off, turned back on and began to work again. So the stats are below but they are missing a bit of information. You will notice a section of straight line on the route that doesn’t really exist.
