KB and I did some riding.
To change it up a bit, we headed out and rode up Stucki, linked to the Rim Jobs and then back down Stucki just as dusk was settling in. We rode 22.6 miles total but I swear it wasn’t near as hard as doing the Barrel Ride followed by the Zen.
In related news, it was determined that, despite our absolute love for riding, the Mooseknuckler Alliance is anything but serious. This was discovered through observation at the Navajo trailhead of the Poppy trail which happened to be completely overflowing with automobiles when we arrived on Saturday. We were greeted in the parking lot by a few other groups of riders. It became almost immediately obvious that we were not as serious as those whose company we shared. We bowed our heads in shame and tottled out of there as quickly as possible.
It’s probably for the best that we are not serious, for if we were things would kind of suck.
The Mooseknucklermobile, in all of its not serious glory, was seen this Sunday out at the goose. The temperature was 72 degrees, according to the Garmin, and there were only two cars in the main trailhead when we arrived. I cannot think of even one thing that could have been better. Good friends, good weather, good beer (thanks to Hollywood) and an amazing trail. I cannot ask for more. We did miss a few of the Alliance but they had their reasons and their invitations.
In complement to My Confession, let me say that the thing that bothers me most is not being domesticated, is not being married or a home owner. It is that I have allowed myself to fall into a funk where I am ok with participating in that which I despise, in that which I wish would disappear. Towards eliminating the “funk,” I have renewed my efforts to eliminate my dependence on others, to return to my DIY ethics. I have to admit sitting here typing with my wood burning stove heating my 90 year old home, I find nothing more revolutionary than the idea the my house is being heated without the help of any corporation and without anyone making any money off my need for heat.
Peace. Love. and Revolution.
