The Northern Chapter Report

I am here to report that the Northern Chapter of the Alliance is well and kicking. And by well, I mean they’re still there beyond that I lay no claims. I came into town unannounced Friday afternoon landing at Sunrise Cyclery. Mr. Keller was there in all his glory. My first words were, “If my shop looked like this everyone would be fired.” I was of course, speaking of the shop area, the sales floor looked great and they were hopping. Poor Lando was the only one there and had three people waiting on him at all times.

Little Ian came around and we had a good little chat. Then Keller and I enjoyed some of Renee’s awesome lunch only to be interrupted by the Golden Knuckle himself who had just finished working out (which apparently is what he does). After a nice little chat Kevin and I rolled on over to his pad and that’s pretty much where we stayed except for one trip to the local store to get supplies.

The proof is in the popcorn…

I went north with a couple of objectives, I accomplished but one, have a drink with Kevin. As Spenser “I win every downhill race I enter” Mehr was told by Lando, we partied like rock stars. Apparently, at rock star parties people end up in the back yard puking and then don’t remember. All I know is I felt fine…

Instead of riding Saturday morning we watched some World Cup which I must say I enjoyed. Yea, I know, watching someone else exercise. It felt better than thinking about exercising myself. And that was Logan.

In Southern News, I’ve mentioned a couple of times the new trail association that is happening. If you haven’t already, join, make your voice heard and help us save our trails.

In news relating to everyone, I found this little article over on the Times website which makes a very good point about today’s politics.

Judith Gans, who studies immigration at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona, said that what social psychologists call self-serving perception bias seemed to be at play. Both sides in the immigration debate accept information that confirms their biases, she said, and discard, ignore or rationalize information that does not.

The article is a good read and the ideas can be applied across the gamet of current events. The article is here.

In less serious news…

The topic of fist bumping has been on my mind for a while now. And not because I enjoy the bumping. I’m not sure what the attraction to this sort of contact is, if someone can explain it I am all ears. I personally feel a strong aversion to this salutation. I’m not sure why, but I feel it is probably only one step away from wanting to be with a man. Maybe I’m crazy, maybe I should just loosen up… The fact is it used to be one or two people who would expect a bump, now it seems like everyone from snot-nosed teens to 40 somethings want to exchange a nice little bump. I think I will start wearing a bandage on my hand so I have an excuse.

Obama does it, it must be cool

And a quick, REALLY?!? Check it.

Well kids, that should wrap it up for today. Wednesday will be a busy day for me and the only reason you should care is because A) I will be attending a trails meeting and B) it is the night ride. We will ride the Barrel Roll on Wednesday, meet at the trailhead at 9 pm.

Ride more.
