Sundeeeee A Ridin

If you can’t make out what that picture is, it’s my Tricross’ bars and the sign in the background is for the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, Prospector Trail. That’s right folks, the skinny knobbies finally hit pay dirt.

Since out Turkey Genocide Day Group Ride (TGDG), I’ve been a jonesin for some more riding. Seeing that we get out at 3 on Sundays, I thought today would be a great time to spin out the old, and getting older legs. KB was at the new house painting, so I grabbed my gear and headed East.

After stopping in to see how things were going and to make sure KB and her mom weren’t going to kill each other, I changed into my most knucklerific kit and headed to Cottonwood Trailhead. I let the tires down to about 55 psi and hit the dirt. This is significant. Really only to me, but it is significant. I had put the knobbies on the bike a few months back with hopes of hitting Paradise as part of my commute. Well, that never happened, but the prospector was a nice ride.

And by nice, I mean it was super fast, white knuckler sketchy in places and made the trail so much harder and by definition that much more fun. There were a couple of spots that my gear (39X17) wouldn’t allow me to push up, but I was able to ride almost the whole thing. And unsurprisingly, it was quite fun. I can’t wait to get the skinny tires out on the dirt again. I’m thinking about putting a bigger freewheel on the rear to help things out, but we’ll have to see…

The rest of the story goes something like this, Sir Gur and I got a screamin, and I really mean screamin, deal on some Fulcrum cranks. I put mine, single modified of course, on the Tricross and they looked so damn good I just had to ride the poor bike. So I put some Eggbeaters on and off to the trailhead I went. The cranks worked as good as they look, and they look even better with a little dust on them…

Some Pics.

In completely unrelated news, I’ve been listening to this.

El Baile de los que Sobran (The dance of those who are left over).

Los Prisioneros were extremely popular and important musicaly during the dictatorship in Chile of Pinochet. This song is awesome if you can understand what it says.

That’s all I got for today.

Peace. Love. and Revolution.
