After Sunday’s beating, I thought it would be best to get out and spin the legs for a few hours. Nothing hard, just let things settle and see if I could get my body to feel like I hadn’t been caned the day before. A barrage of text messages went out and two came back affirmative. Baby Face and Monte were both up for a run on Guacamole.
The troops were gathered and we rode.
The first 1/4 of the ride felt pretty rough. My muscles didn’t want to do anything that I wanted them to do. And then they loosened up and all seemed well. That is until the last 1/4 of the ride when fatigue started to set in and all those loose muscles decided to tighten back up. If I’ve learned one thing about myself over the years, it’s that I do everything possible to eliminate obstacles to me riding. A future in snowboarding is not looking good. Snowboarding has a good chance of ending up like my ex-wife…
In other news, I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the store of Mooseknuckler Alliance stickers was running dangerously low. Fortunately, I was able to get the monkeys working over at Sticker Junkies and we have a brand new batch of stickers.
I’m so on the ball that they still aren’t in the Market yet. I’m sure at some point I will put them there and you can order them in exchange for your hard earned bones. Until then you will have to track me down personally and I will exchange them for high fives and free beers. Because, you know, that’s just the kind of person that I am.
The other kind of person that I am, is the one that I’m pretty sure has the most cover photos for Cycling Utah. It’s been a bit since I’ve done much with the local fish rubber, but I got a hair up my ass a couple of weeks back and after a couple of emails secured the MCA in all upcoming issues. If you haven’t read it yet, you certainly should. Beside the awesome picture that Shelby shot of yours truly, I wrote about alien abductions in the desert. Of course, it’s just a regurgitation of what you already read here with the fun details left out… Like being able to find Hops Rising on tap and other important things.
Speaking of important things, the DMBTA will be hosting it’s first of many Trail Work Days in two Sundays. That coincides with the weekend of True Grit. And as Jamon observed will be a great way to recover from that race’s punishment.
This will in deed be happening on the Goose. We tried a couple of months back and kept getting rained out. Hopefully the weather holds this time around because there are plenty of bushes and trees that need some trimming.
Details are here.
And that’s all the news that is worthy to print. Or at least it’s all the stuff I can stand to print because my forearms are still burning from picking myself up so many times on Sunday.
Ride more.
