Ten days without anything to say. The world might just be coming to an end, well, maybe not. It’s a strange sensation that overcomes me every once in a while. Ever since the time as a teenager when I decided I was going to write something every night and I filled a whole notebook with poorly written prose in a few months, only to sit down one night and have nothing come out. It’s kind of like when you just can’t cry anymore because your eyes are dry. So yea, that’s where I’ve been. I think in the real world of people who write words and stuff for money, they call it writer’s block.
But I wouldn’t know anything about that.
Truth be told, I sat down on Monday to write a post about 15 times. Unfortunately, Monday was slated as a maintenance day. I did some desperately overdue work on my cross bike. This consisted of cleaning all the muck and mire off of the bike from last year’s, yup you read that right, last year’s cross races. Apparently, springing a leak and continuing to ride is a bad idea. Trying to clean sealant off of my down tube was about an hour process.
And then there were the hubs. I lost two of the ball bearings on the front. It’s still waiting to be put back together.
But, no kids, the real question of the day is whether or not you know how it feels to delete eight years of digital photos. Because I do. That’s right kids, I successfully eliminated my entire photo library. I started shooting in pixels in 2006 and have been able to keep those pixels safely stored for the majority of that time. But as time went on and I had more and more pixels, it became more difficult to cache or duplicate said photos. So I just deleted ’em.
Needless to say Monday didn’t go as planned.
“Who fucking gives a rat’s ass?” It’s my blog and I’ll cry if I want to and “I can’t afford a therapist.”
Luckily, there was Sunday which meant two things. 1. I didn’t have to work and 2. Church was had. We’ve kind of merged the Church of the Holy Alliance of Mooseknucklers Sunday School ride with the Team Red Rock MTB group ride. This made for a large group of worshippers. 16 of us hit the trail.
So at least I’ve got that going for me.
When life’s dark times come around and I need a little get-me-up, I BING Border Collie Puppies. I think it goes without saying that life was dark. Until there was this,
Well, I feel better. I hope that worked for you, too.
In unrelated Mooseknuckler News. Camp Lynda is this weekend where all the sufferheads come together in one place in Southern Utah and ride around in the desert until they’re so delirious that they sit around at night and talk about .kml files and power outputs. Also, the carb to protein ration of their favorite endurance drink. This is an event that has been happening for seventy years and is a right of passage for anyone wanting to enter the dark world of long distance endurance mountain bike racing.
I have never attended Camp Lynda. And this year will be no different.
As an alternative, the Alliance has offered Camp Mooseknuckler for the past few years. There is way more drinking, more dropping, more swear words, less miles, less power meters and in our opinion, more fun. If you are interested in participating, let me know and I will point you toward the meeting places. I would just tell you where and what right now, but we like to go for that spontaneous ride atmosphere.
In other unrelated news, the Alliance is down to its last 30 stickers. OK, I don’t keep inventory and I don’t know exactly how many I have left, but here’s a picture of them.
I assume that after this weekend, they will all be stuck to something and I will take a picture of where they gots stuck. Mostly so I can put them on my now devoid of photos hardrive.
On a positive note, my computer is running much better now that all my files are gone.
