Alright kids, tonight is the night. Here’s what you need to know. The Expo and live music will start at 6 pm in front of the Electric Theatre. Land management, a couple of vendors and the DMBTA will all be in attendance to answer your trail questions and so everyone can get to know each other. At 8 we will move in doors for a short local mtb film by Sherm followed by the main event, the screening of Pedal Driven.
I’ve been asked what this is about. Well, the film documents the need for local riders to work in conjunction with land management to build sustainable, legal trails. It shows a group of guys go through the process of learning the importance of this and shows how, despite some frustrations, in the end both parties can be happy. It’s a well done film and has plenty of riding footage to keep you interested.
Once the film is over, the filmmakers will be available for a Q&A session for about a half hour. At this point there will be a group of local riders heading up the road for a quick night ride on some one of our local trails. After the ride everyone will meet at the Red Rock Service Center for the story telling. Or if you choose not to enjoy a quick jaunt on the bike, the party will be beginning and you can hang out at the Service Center and enjoy some food and beer.
It should be a good time and is definitely in support of a good cause. So come out and enjoy the festivities.
In other news…
I sent out 200 stickers to Interbike so the good people of the cycling industry could hear the good news we proclaim here on at the Alliance. If you happen to be here due to one of those stickers, welcome. If you want more stickers, go here. I haven’t had a chance to get the link up for the “Bringing the Knuckler out of the Closet” version, but it will be up soon. If you were given stickers, I would love to see where they got stuck…
Speaking of bringing the knuckle out, I’m pretty sure Sunday will be a Goose day. The official season started last week and the weather looks to be descent. I also have the Enduro in pretty much perfect riding order. Everything except the rear wheel is perfect. Apparently I need to learn to pick up the rear wheel a little bit more. If you wanna ride, hit me up.
I am also contemplating how to get some cross racing going on in SG. While I was enjoying last weekend’s rain storm from the safety of the Mooseknuckler Cycling Alliance Social Lounge, I started to get the itch for some skinny, knobby riding. I even went as far as putting brakes back on the bike. And then I rode it around my house, which did have some mud in the back yard meaning there is some on the tires. Anywaysss, if you wanna ride some skinnies or have a great location in mind for a race, hit me up.
And to wrap things up a random video I found over at All Hail the Black Market.
See you tonight.
