Pedal Driven happened this past Friday. And everything went as planned and we saw that it was good.
Other than about 5 minutes of rain just as things were getting going, the weather was perfect. People started gathering right at 6 as the band got things hopping with a good mix of original material and covers. It was nice to see a lot of folks that I didn’t already know. It’s nice to know that the community has finally grown to that point where it’s not the same 10 faces for every event.
We gave out a shit load of stuff. Thanks to the sponsors… Red Rock Bicycle Co., Over the Edge Sports, Desert Rat, Starbucks, Bicycles Unlimited. And thanks to the people who showed up, including the BLM and the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.
Now that it is all over, I’ve had two full nights of good rest, but I’m still really tired.
And to celebrate the Alliance got out and did some riding.
Unfortunately, I’m not as fast with the camera phone as I used to be seeing that I only got one photo of someone actually riding. On another note, I could post several pictures of us at the Goose, not riding.
But we got out and tried to sweat out the booze that we had consumed the night before at Afterbike at OTE. I did sweat a lot and my legs felt like they were not attached. The feeling seemed to be shared with everyone pedaling. So we rode up the South to HC and down the North.
Seeing that Sunday was kind of a short ride, I thought I would give it another try. I was gonna ride up to Broken Mesa and make one big loop of the commute there. I left a bit later than expected and ended up doing the “Everything but Broken Mesa” loop. I rode for 18 miles and never even got my tires on singletrack. Apparently, it’s kind of far from here. And anyone who needs some climbing, go ride the Powerline hill, repeatedly. It will kick your ass, at least it did mine.
I will have to give it a try again soon.
And now a random picture of DD.
Thanks for stopping by, now go ride your bike.
Out.
I think i might be the only person. To ever break a seat post going uphill. Kinda embrassing but i like it
