I’ve missed you.

Ah…

I got out on the Tricross this morning and got my sorry ass to work under my own power. It’s embarrassing how long it’s been since the last time I commuted to work. It’s been a long time since I’ve ridden the Tricross.

As it always is with commuting the first time in months, it was quite difficutl to get out the door this morning. I had rounded up my cold weather gear the night before, but forgot a few things. First up, the bike was in the shed, which wouldn’t seem like much of an issue except that I dedogged the front yard. This means I have to go through a gate that is shut with a rock that weighs a ton. And of course, I have to keep the dogs in the back yard while maneuvering through the gate with said bicycle. Anyways, I got it done. Then I remembered that I had loaned my saddle bag with it’s precious tube, tool kit and CO2 pump to KB for the Tour de St. George. Of course, it hadn’t been returned to my saddle which meant it was time to go and I had no way of fixing a flat.

This took another ten minutes to remedy. I snagged a road tube out of the shed, rummaged through my hydration pack for a frame pump and then loaded it all into the panniers. I then put the panniers on the bike. I was in such a hurry that I put it on the wrong side and didn’t notice that my foot was hitting it every revolution until I was about 5 minutes up the road. I didn’t really feel like stopping, so I just road her on in with my foot hitting the bag, every single turn…

Anyways, it felt good. And more importantly I promise to make it happen more often. I would ride tomorrow but I have to take a bunch of college kids mountain biking…

Peace. Love. and Revolution.
