I have to tell you, my weekend was probably better than yours.
Saturday was a long day. A long day in the car. I spent 9.5 hours driving SAG for the Tour de St. George. I had my little sis on board to keep the monotony down. We drove, drove and drove, the entire time watching other people exercise. I’ll admit that the biggest reason I volunteer to help out is so I don’t have to ride the stupid thing. Check out the elevation profile, pay special attention to the mileage. Would you want to hit that hill at that mile? Me neither.
So after a long day of driving, I enjoyed an evening in the company of good friends. Let’s just say Mr. Newby was in rare form.
Sunday was the exciting day.
KB and I met Danny and Hollywood at 7:30 for a trip up the mountain. We were hoping to conquer the Virgin River Rim trail. All told, I think it conquered us. We hit the trail at 10:44 and ended at 5:12. That’s 32.5 miles at high altitude. I think we finished just in time, I was ready to curl up in the fetal position and start to cry. If you haven’t hit this trail, you should. It was a dificult ride but I enjoyed almost all of it and the satisfaction at the end was well worth the parts that sucked.
A few photos…
Yeah, that’s right. All the beauty that we saw and I only took two pictures, two pictures of us sitting on a road exhausted trying to swallow PB and J’s and not being very happy. Google the trail and you will find plenty of photos of the amazing views we witnessed.
