Yesterday, police in St. Paul arrested several journalists, including Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman and an AP photographer as they were covering protests of the Republican National Convention.

Amy Goodman and others were released last night, but the story is not over.

We need you to cosign our public letter demanding that press intimidation cease immediately, and that all charges be dropped. It will be delivered immediately to St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, the RNC Host Committee and the local prosecuting attorneys. We need 10,000 signatures in the next 24 hours, so please take action now:

We, like the rest of the country, are glued to the developments of Hurricane Gustav.

On August 27, 2005 I had just completed my initial week as a first year law student at Tulane in New Orleans. I woke up that morning to my roommate telling me she was evacuating due to Katrina.

Without a car and not knowing many people, I tried to buy either a plane, bus or train ticket to evacuate, but nothing was available. I ended up waiting four hours at a Hertz counter and getting one of the last few dozen rental cars in the city just before midnight. I left thinking I would be gone for days and ended up not returning for five months. (more…)

This Sunday we will be repairing the fence at the top of Green Canyon. Be at the top of the trail at 10 a.m. or meet at Sunrise Cyclery at 8:30 a.m. and we will ride up. Bring gloves, everything else will be provided by the forest service.

Remember we are not entitled to the trails so come and  help us make sure that we will be able to ride for years to come. Plus it’s just the right thing to do….
Peace. Love. and Revolution.

As a manager of a shop there are a few things that usually really bug me, customers that demand the world and aren’t willing to pay for a piece of gum and sales reps.

With that said there are a few sales reps over the years that have stood out and were different. I happened to meet one of these just this past week. You may be scratching your head and wondering what that has to do with 29′r rims. Just let me finish. He happens to be good friends with a publisher/editor of a certain magazine that does reviews. He pointed out one report that had to do with a certain suspension fork that frankly doesn’t work but the magazine reported that it had potential and did not place the fork in a negative light. Even though the editor had written the article and mentioned to this sales rep that the fork had broken three times during his test period. Well, this got me thinking. If I’m going to review stuff here at the Alliance it is going to tell you everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. I beat the shit out of stuff, real world style, and I think it is important for me to convey exactly what I think for stuff I choose to review.

So what? You have my promise not to tell you something rocks when in actuality it sucks, my new motto….

Now to the review… (more…)

Good morning.

This is Ralph Nader.

As you know, Nader/Gonzalez is being blocked from the Presidential debates.

The corporate controlled, so-called Commission on Presidential Debates will not let any independent candidate in unless they show 15 percent in a series of polls in September.

That’s no surprise. (more…)

August 31st at 10 am be at the top of Green Canyon for trail work. If you ride the trails in Logan and you haven’t done any trail work this year, or this week or just that day, you really should be there. Remember we are not entitled to the trails we have permission to use them. So, let’s make sure we continue to have that right by helping out those who can give and take away are trails….
