Alliance Rides

Ahhhh, the nostalgia…

The Alliance is one again sponsoring a bit of a harebrained trip. Aaron Nielson and Zane Salzetti are heading out for a long journey trip via the most efficient form of transportation, the two-wheeled love machine. They will be riding from Logan through northern Nevada, down to San Francisco  and then up the coast to Portland. Why? you ask, to once again prove that cars are unnecessary and that root of all evil in our society, kind of. Aaron and Zane want to show that getting around on bike is easy and if they can ride to Portland than everyone else should be able to make it to the grocery store.

Of course, these guys are in need of any assistance anyone can hook them up with. If you live in the areas they are heading or would like to donate some silver to the boys drop them an email at solid_zeal(at)hotmail(dot)com or thecutlassfish(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Stay tuned for updates from their adventure right here at the Alliance.
Anarchy means that we must help each other out because there is no one else to do it for us.

Life goes on. Ride it on a bike.

Yes, this is the one week every year that I spend on top of Cedar Mountain. I will be down in SG tomorrow and most likely stopping in to see the crew and line up some rides.

Stay tuned for the report….

Well, it doesn’t happen very often, but I went down last night.

5 of us (KB, Green Socks, Little Erin, Ryan and myself) went up Ricks and came down Steels yesterday. The climb up was great except that last mile of straight up. I confess I used the granny gear, which in my case means I was walking. Ryan was in great form and mountain goated his way to the top. The mosquitoes were out in serious hordes as well and left me looking a bit like pin cushion. They made it nigh impossible to stop and take a rest. (more…)

The Wednesday ride went off without a hitch yesterday. We had a nice jaunt around the Mud Flats loop up right hand fork canyon. It was a little warm climbing up Willow Creek but once on top things started to mellow out for us. The trail was in the best shape I have ever seen it, but still not in excellent shape. Any of you who have done this trail won’t be surprised to hear that there still are parts that are destroyed from the cows. (more…)

Ok, it’s going down and this is how it’s gonna happen. This Friday 9 p.m. at the Merlin Olsen park’s basketball court. Bring a mallet, a pedal-able two-wheeled love machine, and your biggest smile.

Need I say more?

Well, things went down exactly the way I thought they would.

We met at 5:30ish at the shop and carpooled down to Brigham City to the start line. We found Bill (the rider from Ogden) when we noticed a fixie leaning up against the barriers with an enormous gear (53 X 13). The count down began and most of the team was in the bathroom so we headed out a bit after the bulk of the riders. (more…)

This just in from Speedy…

I am 2 weeks away from the MS 150 and I need your help!

Help me raise money for the National MS Society as I ride in the MS 150 in 2 weeks.

Every hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS. Almost 4 years ago I became one of those people. We can use your help and that’s why I’m asking you to support my fund raising efforts with a tax-deductible donation. No amount is too small, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, anything helps us in this battle. (more…)

Due to certain misunderstandings, I’m posting this so that everyone knows. Sunday rides will be at 2 p.m. unless otherwise posted prior to Saturday evening. I will also make sure that what type of ride we are doing is posted so you don’t show up to a road ride rocking the knobbies. Just a little info that may be useful.

Sorry Ike, we would have loved your company…
