This Sunday we will be repairing the fence at the top of Green Canyon. Be at the top of the trail at 10 a.m. or meet at Sunrise Cyclery at 8:30 a.m. and we will ride up. Bring gloves, everything else will be provided by the forest service.
Remember we are not entitled to the trails so come and help us make sure that we will be able to ride for years to come. Plus it’s just the right thing to do….
Peace. Love. and Revolution.

As a manager of a shop there are a few things that usually really bug me, customers that demand the world and aren’t willing to pay for a piece of gum and sales reps.
With that said there are a few sales reps over the years that have stood out and were different. I happened to meet one of these just this past week. You may be scratching your head and wondering what that has to do with 29′r rims. Just let me finish. He happens to be good friends with a publisher/editor of a certain magazine that does reviews. He pointed out one report that had to do with a certain suspension fork that frankly doesn’t work but the magazine reported that it had potential and did not place the fork in a negative light. Even though the editor had written the article and mentioned to this sales rep that the fork had broken three times during his test period. Well, this got me thinking. If I’m going to review stuff here at the Alliance it is going to tell you everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. I beat the shit out of stuff, real world style, and I think it is important for me to convey exactly what I think for stuff I choose to review.
So what? You have my promise not to tell you something rocks when in actuality it sucks, my new motto….
Now to the review… (more…)

Click here to listen to Ralph’s Saturday morning audio blog.
Good morning.
This is Ralph Nader.
As you know, Nader/Gonzalez is being blocked from the Presidential debates.
The corporate controlled, so-called Commission on Presidential Debates will not let any independent candidate in unless they show 15 percent in a series of polls in September.
That’s no surprise. (more…)

August 31st at 10 am be at the top of Green Canyon for trail work. If you ride the trails in Logan and you haven’t done any trail work this year, or this week or just that day, you really should be there. Remember we are not entitled to the trails we have permission to use them. So, let’s make sure we continue to have that right by helping out those who can give and take away are trails….

We did play polo this past Tuesday. If you weren’t there you missed out on some great fun. Robert won the award for most wreckless riding, Dusty and Lance won the award for the best actual players, and I won the award for the guy who always bails before everyone else. The games keep getting more competitive and a few people (Lance and Dusty) have some serious skills. The rest of us just try to hold on until they finish scoring and hope we are on their team.
If you still haven’t been out to play, stop by this coming Tuesday at 8:30. We are still playing in the overflow parking lot at the temple. Dusty has made extra mallets so there are plenty if you don’t have your own.
Peace. Love. and Revolution.

This just in from the Democratic Underground, apparently fairy tale characters need health care too.
The workers’ contract expired in February and their union says Disney’s latest proposal makes health care unaffordable for hundreds of employees and creates an unfair two-tier wage system. The union also says Disney wants to create a new category of part-time employees who would receive greatly reduced benefits.
Read the story, by following the link above. There’s just something comical about police arresting people dressed up like Peter Pan and Cinderella.

Getting to the trail head is simple, just take the Tony Grove turn off from the Logan Canyon road. This is a shuttle and from the turn off go past the left turn and you will see a turn off on your right, you should leave your shuttle vehicle here. Then head up to Tony Grove Lake to begin the ride.
Park in the lot at the lake. The trail head is at the end of the parking lot. The trail climbs up from the parking lot. It is usually rocky and towards the end of the summer will be dusty. You will come to a fork. You want to go to the right towards White Pine. After the fork you will continue to climb. You will climb about 750 feet at which point you will begin the long, awesome descent. At the top of the climb you have a great view of Gog and Magog and this is a great place to stretch and regroup for the descent.
The descent begins with some steep, sketchy switchbacks. Stay on your toes, this is where I-dog lost his teeth last year. After a technical descent, things will mellow out for a bit. You will come to another fork in the trail, this time take a right and head towards Bunch Grass.
From this point you can simply follow the trail. There is one more fork but you probably won’t even notice it. There are two short hike-a-bikes in the middle but other than that you have 3000 feet to descend.
The trail will dump you back out on the Logan Canyon road. Head to your right for a short jaunt back to your car.
This is one of my favorite trails in the area. It is beautiful. There is usually wildlife hanging around, including moose. It is also one of the best down hills in the area. Due to its beauty there is a lot of other trail users, so please be courtesy. Remember bikers yield to everyone else.

Getting to Mud Flats is pretty simple. Head up Logan Canyon and take the Right Hand Fork turn off. After taking the turn off continue till the fork in the road, go left on the dirt road past the corral and park in the turn around parking lot. If you can still drive on a dirt road you are either in the wrong place or haven’t gone far enough. There is a bathroom in the parking lot.
Once in the parking lot, head up the trail. You will pass a turn off on your left, stay on the more used trail. There is a fork, take the Willow Creek trail to your left. You will stay on this trail to the top until you come out on a road. At the road head left towards the signs and another fork where you will once again head left. Stay on this road. It will climb a bit more before dropping off. It will wind down and around to the Little Cottonwood Spring. At this point the road will get narrower and turn into single track and drop you off for a fun little descent through Little Cottonwood Canyon. You will come out at the Corral you passed on the way in. Your car is just another few hundred yards away.

Are you ready to rumble?
If yes, make a contribution now to help fund our protest rallies in Denver (August 27) and Minneapolis (September 4).
Thousands of Americans will be in Denver and Minneapolis to protest the pro-war corporate controlled Democrats and Republicans.
Nader/Gonzalez has rented arenas in both cities to rally Americans opposed to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and corporate control over all aspects of our lives.
And to lay down one simple demand - open the Presidential debates.
As Ralph put it the other day, if we are allowed into the debates - and reach tens of millions of Americans with our message - it will be a three-way race.
Thanks to your help, we are on track to be on 45 states ballots by September 20 (Currently, we are on 31.)
If we get into the debates, our six percent in the polls will jump to 15 percent or more.
And the American people will sense a three-way race. (more…)
