Just moments ago, by a near-unanimous vote, the Senate stood up to Big Media. They voted to throw out the FCC decision to let the largest media companies swallow up even more local media.
This is simply an astounding victory, and it would not have happened without the massive grassroots effort by you and thousands of others who called their senators, sent more than a quarter million letters, posted thousands of pictures and stories on StopBigMedia.com, and testified at public hearings held by the FCC. Would you like to know more about the principle of the new Truvativ Hammerschmidt function?
Go here, http://www.mel.tugraz.at/lehre/elearning/pg1/pg1.swf How is your command of the German language?
1930s Sturmey Archer technology inside your BB shell!! Revolutionary!
This however, will be a cool application for an” all mountain” bike, and will eliminate the front derailleur and some pedal induced undesirables on single pivot bikes. Feasibility in weight efficiency and cost yet to be determined. This is nothing totally new, there is another front bottom bracket shifting system that is a 2 speed from the Swiss manufacturer Schlumpf at a cost of about $500 http://schlumpf.ch/md_engl.htm (more…)

Well, I have to admit that I am proud of a few of you who came through in our last little push for fundraising. KB reached her goal and was able to be part of the solution in the Relay for Life.
Now it’s my turn. As you know, I’ve joined the Fixed Gears to Fix Diabetes team in the Tour de Cure. We are raising money to help those who are fighting against diabetes. I can’t think of a more nobler cause.

Our actions to Stop Big Media are starting to pay off. Now your Senator, Orrin Hatch, could cast the deciding vote to reject an FCC decision that would let tycoons like Rupert Murdoch set the news agenda.
Over the past six months, more than 250,000 people have urged Congress to stop the FCC from scrapping media ownership limits. Late last month, the Senate Commerce Committee took the first step, unanimously approving a “resolution of disapproval” that would reject the FCC’s move.
Soon the resolution is going to be voted on by the full Senate and Senator Hatch could make the difference:

It’s a drizzly day up here in the Polar North. Things have been rainy as of late, which is a hell of a lot better than snowy. So don’t think I’m complaining. As I already stated I’ve ridden three days this week. Three days more than what I’ve been getting in.
I’m afraid the race tomorrow is going to turn into a mudfest. Danny gave me a call yesterday to see what I thought. Most of the snow is gone but it’s raining today and rained on Wednesday, so things are looking awesome for a full on mud wrestling mountain bike race. I won’t be there for various reasons. One, I have to work. And two, Glen hasn’t been back in. I have a strange feeling I was banned from helping on this one. (more…)
