It’s been a while, and so what like all of you really need to be reading the bull shit I have to write any ways. You should be out riding your bikes instead, but here is a little something to tide you over for a while.
Sunday I did get out on the fixie. I rocked the Little Pyranees to Black Smith Fork Canyon. It was a beautiful day and there were lots of other riders out enjoying the day. I went out by myself seeing no one else showed up, but that is just fine with me. The silence of my drive train and the absence of chatter made it possible for me to see some pretty cool stuff. On my way to Mendon, I saw about a half dozen Killdeer and most excitingly I saw a Golden Eagle dive down and pounce on its prey right off to the side of the road as I passed.
The day started out beautiful. I watched the clouds build over the mountains to the east as I rode towards them. By the time I headed up the canyon, the sky was bulging with dark clouds and the wind had started to pick up. I rode into the storm and had changing winds on my way up and down the canyon. By the time I dropped out of the canyon I was ready to be done and I had a head wind all the way back to Logan.
I learned that I need to adjust a few things on the fixie still. It feels great for the thirty miles I have been doing but after that it continuously gets more and more uncomfortable. Time to get a sofa.
The Golden Knuckler, who was thought to have been lost but was just out learning how to be a cowboy, and myself went up Jardine last night. It’s been a hell of a long time since we’ve been up that trail. It was surprisingly dry for the amount of rain and snow we have had this year. Due to time constraints we only made it to the bottom of the second set of switchbacks but we would have bagged the whole trail easily if Kevin didn’t have to go play poker.
Ride more. Drive less.
