I have not posted anything anywhere in a long time and am ending that right now. I was inspired by looking at this site and seeing that there are no photos of Lucas at home (riding). Your fearless leader is a very talented rider and I have had the fortune of photographing him at his best. I’m not much of a writer so I will just let the photos roll. PEACE………..

Blanket Ban Would Shut Out Mountain Biking in Montana National Forest
Mountain bikers stand to lose access to many spectacular rides in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest in southwest Montana. The forest wants to institute a blanket ban on bicycling in backcountry areas managed as “recommended wilderness.” These areas contain some of the best singletrack in Montana .
Local cyclists have proposed companion designations and minor boundary adjustments to preserve these wild places and the singletrack experiences they provide. Unfortunately, the Forest Service has reiterated its intent to ban bicycles, eliminating 25 years of mountain biking tradition and setting a damaging precedent.
Take Action! Tell the Forest Service mountain biking and land protection are not mutually exclusive. The deadline for comments is Monday, March 31. (more…)

We will be leaving from the shop tomorrow at 5 for a ride of the Little Pyrenees. We will head to Center street then to 6th West going south to 6th South and then West to the end of the road. This again will be an easy ride, and a great way to recover if you rocked it too hard yesterday at the TNR.
Be there.

I received what is my favoritest of all mtn. bike mags, Dirt Rag, today at the shop. I was quite excited to have it in my hands and be able to feel the joy of reading from its divine pages. Within its first pages is a tribute to the late Sheldon Brown, well written and right on. After Brown’s obituary, there is an article about touring in Portugal and then some reviews, all enjoyable and I read in their entirety. But I’m not writing this because I love Dirt Rag… (more…)

Team IMBA is fun social-networking fundraising program based on what you love to do — RIDE! Team IMBA gives riders an opportunity to raise funds, earn prizes and have a heck of a lot of fun. In 2007, we launched the program at the 24 Hours of Moab and raised over $15,000.
Why should I get involved?
If you love trails, love what IMBA does, and have always wanted to do more to help us in our mission — here’s your chance. Be a part of a very special community working to support a cause you’re passionate about AND take on the physical challenge of one of the world’s most prestigious 24-hour races, or any event you choose. We want you on board! (more…)

Hi all,
Got some non-USU Cycling related news. Just wanted to remind everyone of the Critical Mass community bike ride this Friday. Meet at Sunrise at 5:30.
In Logan, as well as in other cities around the world, Critical Mass has often been a touchy and controversial subject. Please put previous conceptions of the ride behind and come see what’s happening here; we want Logan to have a peaceful, law abiding community ride that riders of all ages and abilities feel comfortable participating in. We’re encouraging riders (within the Mass and without) to ride within the law and be courteous of cars on the road. In order to further the ‘Share the Road’ mentality, it takes respect on both sides. We want this to be a positive experience for the riders, vehicles, and LPD. (more…)

Just a quick reminder that the Alliance ride will be held this Wednesday, 5 p.m. at Sunrise Cyclery, all are welcome and we always have a good time. And if anyone feels like it afterwards, my house is open for a shindig, meaning brews and salsa.
Out.

Right now. I never thought about how weak this phrase was until today. Our language is so ambiguous, so full of gray areas, so inaccurate, that its semantic value of the present tense does not mean right now. Shouldn’t I be able to ask, “Where are you?” and have that mean right now. The verb to be conjugated in the present tense can mean just about anything. Not only is it weak in time, but also in place. “Where” can mean, not only place in the sense of reality but also place spiritually, place in action as in “What are you doing?” and so forth. I don’t think there is a phrase that cannot mean more than one thing. I’m not sure I like that, but then again if everything was exact there would be little point in writing. (more…)

This is something that KB is doing and I think you should all get behind and support. I don’t think any of us can say we don’t know anyone who has had cancer. And the statistics are not in our favor to die without it.
Peace. Love. and Revolution.
