Greeetings!
A Quick Event Update: Epic Rides 24hrs in the old Pueblo, February 15th - 17th.

Thursday and Friday brought rain, turning to snow on the cactus of the Arizona Desert for the 9th annual Epic Rides 24hrs in the old Pueblo. This made getting in on the muddy ranch road a daunting task for some. A few weak willed turned for home and missed out on an “Epic” adventure.
Race day the rain/snow stopped and the riders were greeted with a gooey first lap that soon gave way to faster tacky “ego dirt”. The Le Mans start was a great beginning. The temperatures were cool (cold by some standards) a high of 45 on Saturday and a low of 29* overnight(brrr). As the sun came up on Sunday the temperatures rose to 68* by 11am and offered the warmth that riders from cooler climates were seeking (and longed for since arriving).
The weather damped the expo and cooled the race, But the riders came away with an adventure. There was plenty of food, entertainment and things to do in 24hr Town®! Amenities were available in the middle of vastness like hot showers and massages!
The folks from the Slippery Pig Bike Shop were on hand to sing the gospel of Deuter and wowed a few with the latest offering from Reynolds Composites. They greeted the booth visitors with a smile, beverage of choice (including hot cocoa) snacks and offered all the comforts of home including shelter, blankets, gas heat, a leather couch and carpeting!!
Many goose-bumps were smoothed and smiles restored as the IMBA and Deuter easy-ups were anchored together to create a dry zone for the people.
Attached are some photos and a small video of the “Epic” weekend.
Regards,
Douglas Roether
