Cherished Durango Singletrack Jeopardized by New Management Plan
Your support is needed to protect valuable singletrack in one of Colorado’s largest roadless areas, West Hermosa Creek. A new management plan for public lands outside Durango, Colorado, includes a proposal to close access to the famous Colorado Trail and several other cherished routes. Local riders are proposing a common sense solution that would protect natural resources and bicycle access.
Take Action! Tell the Forest Service you support bicycle-friendly protection of Durango’s West Hermosa Creek. The deadline for comments is March 12, 2008. (more…)

EARL BLUMENAUER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Erin Allweiss
Bill Passes House with Four Blumenauer Provisions
Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore) joined a majority of the House to pass the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2008, H.R.5351. The bill contains four provisions introduced by Rep. Blumenauer: closing the Hummer tax loophole, providing an investment tax credit for small wind turbines, offering a benefit to bike commuters, and conducting a carbon audit of the U.S. Tax Code.
“There is no reason Congress should subsidize the five biggest oil companies, which reaped record profits this year, while Americans pay top dollar at the pump,” said Congressman Blumenauer. “What we need is to invest in the energy technologies of tomorrow, and this bill does just that by shifting subsidies to gas and oil companies over to renewable energy initiatives and incentives. No longer are we providing tax breaks to those who buy the least efficient vehicles, like Hummers, or subsidizing the energy technologies of yesterday. Instead we are investing in clean energy solutions that will create jobs, decrease our reliance on foreign oil, and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.” (more…)

SavetheInternet.com just caught Comcast Corp. stacking an FCC hearing with paid (and apparently sleepy) seat-fillers.
The hearing was set up to investigate Comcast’s recent blocking of the Internet. But Comcast packed the room so that the public couldn’t get in to voice their support for Net Neutrality.
We took pictures and recorded an interview that proves Comcast was taking seats from concerned citizens. Now, we need you to make sure that the company doesn’t get away with this ever again. (more…)

I know I left you hanging. The truth is I got sick and things have been a bit hazy in the Mooseknuckler Headquarters, also known as my brain. Plus, I’ve been writing a million different things for different places that I’m not even sure if they got written in English or not. The down side to all of this is that I don’t recall everything that I was planning on writing in the first place. So you are going to have to deal with a summary.
Here it goes…. (more…)

Just a reminder, the races are this weekend. That’s exactly seven days earlier than they should be, but as a bonus and a peace offering for changing the schedule, there may be some SG Knucklers rocking the streets this weekend.
Don’t miss it, or I may be sad.
Peace. Love. and Revolution.
