About two years ago I purchased a compilation cd from G7 Welcoming Committee Records, the label of my favorite punk band Propaghandi. The second song on said compilation was titled “We Conquer” by a band I had never heard of before and that was definitely not punk, Warsawpack. I became fond of the song, listening to their politically charged lyrics about western civilization. After a few months I began to check the group out.
They have two full length cd’s available for purchase, Stocks and Bombs, their latest release, and Attention to Deficit. I purchased the first and begun to delve into their style. They mix rock and hip hop beats with their wildly radical political lyrics. One critic described them as children who grew up listening to Rage Against the Machine but without any sense of what fascism was. I disagree, I think they are more politically aware than RATM ever were. They also mix a much more diverse sound, calling on saxophone, flute and turntable to put out a sound that is uniquely theirs, at least as far as my ears have heard.
Anyways, they get the Mooseknuckler seal of approval.
