The up and coming, the happenings that are the most happening.

I haven’t breached the subject of mustaches too much here on the Alliance site, but it does happen to be September and you all know that means it’s mustache month. In year’s past we have seen a lot of you Mooseknucklers come out of the woodwork with some nice mustaches. For example, JD’s ‘stache shown below, I think has a pretty damn good chance of winning the competition this year.

Now that’s a mustache

If you aren’t aware of the Bigote Battles, this is a yearly happening that, while the Alliance doesn’t pay for the prizes nor is directly involved, you all know where the competition comes from.

Super D has participated the last couple of years.

Super D’s Stache is super

And, despite the fact that we haven’t seen him for quite some time, due to his sojourn in the great polar north, Scarf came through with flying colors as well.

That’s a nice stache

Things are on again this year and there is a bike on the line for whomever can grow the best upper lip hairs. The mustache that receives the most likes on Facebook wins this Roll.

For all the details, check it out here.

On a more serious note of what be going downs, there will be a cleaning up of the road side on Highway 9 tomorrow at 5 pm.

Come PITCH IN – on Thursday the 27th, come help clean-up a stretch of Highway 9. The plan – starting at 5:00pm – is to start at the bottom of the hill by the traffic light – head up the hill and get as much trash gathered as daylight allows. We’ll have plenty of bags, reflective vests, brooms to clean the shoulders and refreshments. Bring a pair of gloves and come help keep our roads fun to ride!

If you have any questions, stop by or call Red Rock and ask for Paul.

Not to be outdone by the roadies, the DMBTA is also having a little service project this weekend. This Sunday meet at the JEM upper trailhead between 9:30 and 10. We will be riding in to the drop to, once again, make it safe to ride. (No, I don’t think this is necessary and actually I’m against it, but the BLM requires it so it must be done.)

All the nitty gritty can be found here.

As things continue to get nicer, there was a bit of a happening to go down on the 13th of October that then got moved to the 20th and will now most likely be pushed to next year. The Annual Autumnal Virgin River Rim Outing of the Mooseknuckler Variety will probably not be happening. But if you are/were interested watch the Facebooks for details.

The fact of the matter is the leaves have already changed… And that was kind of the point. My bad.

Next on the Mooseknuckler Cycling/Climbing/Canyoneering/backCountry Alliance schedule is the 25 Hours of Frog Hollow.

After last years race, I swore to never ever race a bicycle and then I decided that I should. So I will once again be joining the likes of Roller Coaster Kim, Super D, Jerry and KB (I assume) to make up the most awesomest and winningest team in the universe. Of course, we will be competing in the category for best nicknames, worst mustaches and least laps.

I think we just covered a full two months of happenings.

Nothing is official yet, but in the month of November you should be seeing a pretty kick ass event co-sponsored by the DMBTA and SUBA that will rival, and hopefully surpass last year’s Pedal Driven Fest. The details are coming together slowly. You all know where to come for the what nots on the happenings.

Now I think I’ll go down to the hub and grow my mustache.
