Making Yoga Difficult?

Well, it rained again yesterday, but I wasn’t about to be foiled yet another time.

I got off work at 1 and headed home with high hopes of a ride. The plan was to grab the cx bike and head to the Arizona Strip. Unfortunately, things got complicated and I ended up leaving about an hour and a half after I had planned. This put the planned trip on hold and forced me to head back to the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. As you may remember from a past Making Cycling Difficult post, this is the same place that I successfully destroyed an Ultra Torque bb.

So I proceeded to not destroy any bb’s but instead to put the hammer down on my legs. I spent about two hours riding as hard as I could through rain, sand and wind. My average speed was around 8 mph. I would ride through some sand and then look back as water filled the inch or so deep impression that I had made. I could not find any spot on the road that was hard enough to really get good traction and allow me to roll. So I pedaled harder, harder, harder…

After thrashing around in the sand, I decided to climb to the top of Dump hill, but then I thought why stop here and proceeded to climb to the top of Everest trail. Once I couldn’t go any higher, I turned around and pedaled through the wind to get back home.

Upon arriving, KB started to beg me to go to Yoga. I was dead tired, my legs were cramping as it were, but she wouldn’t let up. I went. About 20 minutes in I went to go from Downward Dog to some other pose that required me to lift my leg up and above me. About half way through the motion, I got one of the worst Charlie Horses of all time. I dropped to the ground and began to agonize over how to get the pain to go away…

Loved the ride though…
